 After my session with Sheila, I opened my mind to asking my 5.75 year old more open ended questions about life and feelings and we had one of the best dinners we have ever had for 2 dinners in a row. We also took the opportunity
to go out onto the balcony and she brought out her camera to "take pictures of our neighborhood so she could show her kids when she gets older".
She was so excited to talk with me and be with me in this new way along with the new experience of really taking pictures with her camera outside of the house. We plan on many more lively chats and fun outings with the camera and using all the techniques we talked about to enrich our lives.
Tonight as I laid her down to bed she said, "Mom, you are so loving. You are a great mom. Lately you have been even MORE loving." I said, really how? She said, you are just closer to me, I can feel that."
Thank you Sheila for your intuition and for your passion and for your support in helping me be even closer to my daughter. There is no greater work in my opinion and you really helped open my eyes to what is possible with our connection. Thank you,

After a Photo/Seeing Course in which Julie was a participant
"Sheila's gentle teaching opened up my inner eye in a way it had never been before. Even though I work in a visual field (as an architect), I rarely (if ever) gave myself the gift of simply looking for its own sake at the simple details of my daily family life. Once I started, it was like the floodgates had been opened.
Inspired by a brief instruction from Sheila on how to play with the camera's shutter speed and light settings, I started taking photos of my young son in his darkened room while he slept. Not only are they precious records of a rare resting and vulnerable state, some of them turned out to be surprisingly successful compositions.
Another suggestion of Sheila's was to "take my camera for a walk," and being spring, there was lots to see and revel in. My son delighted in coming along, picking flowers and taking over the camera at times.
These priceless moments are the true gift of Sheila's class. The striking, authentic photographs are simply a by-product." -

Who IS Sheila Finkelstein?
Why is she doing this?
Recently, in the process of expanding my life coaching business I began noticing how committed and truly passionate I am helping parents connect and communicate more openly, easily and deeply with their children.
And what I’ve discovered with the moms whom I’ve coached and with whom I’ve had conversations there has been a definite shift in the freedom they are having with their children – freedom from guilt around what they think is the “right” way to be with their kids and their “not” being in those modes. Even more importantly, there is a renewed excitement in being with their young people.
I could share about my life as an artist, coach, wife, mother, grandmother, educator and also provide you with bunches of testimonial links. The latter could include those from coaching clients, people whom I’ve impacted with my photography and coaching, former participants in photo/seeing classes I’ve led, individuals who were in my elementary school classes 35 years ago and are still living some of what they learned and passing on those experiences. I could also include comments from my sons, my grandchildren and more. And, this page is not about that.
